Beginning Obedience: Introduction to basic obedience: loose lead walking, sit, down, stay, come, leave it and confidence building. Tunnels and jumps may be used to help build confidence. Basic grooming and some basic first aid. We train owners to have fun with their dogs while training. It’s the owner who trains the dog.
Puppy Kindergarten: puppy socialization and supervised puppy play time. How to train the “basic” commands such as sit, down, settle, stay and the ever important recall as well as walking politely on lead. Basic training strategies for housebreaking, teething, chewing, nipping etc.
Puppies must be at least 14 ½ weeks old at the start of the class. It is for puppies up to 7 months of age. Upon completion of the course, the puppy will have completed the requirements for the AKC Puppy Star Program.
Advanced Puppy: Puppies who have completed the Puppy Kindergarten class.
More is expected of the puppies as they are now 2-3 months older. The puppies will be expected to hold their sits/downs and stays longer as they begin to mature. More skills are added, such as some tricks and the introduction of some of the performance events such as agility and rally. If space permits, we can take a couple of older puppies who have not had Puppy Kindergarten.
Canine Good Citizen: Started in 1989, the CGC Program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
Rally Obedience This class is to start you in beginning rally with obedience thrown into the class. Rally is reading the signs laid out on the course and learn to do each command as the sign instructs you and your dog.
Advanced Obedience: This class is intended for those who have good basic obedience skills. The dog should have a good focus on the handler; know the basic sit, down, stand, stays/waits and on lead heeling. All of the A.K.C. title obedience and rally events will be studied. Every week various title event routines will be run and than weaknesses for the individual handler/dog team will be worked on. New skills such as retrieves send outs, jumping and scent discrimination as well as other advanced skills will be covered as needed.
